5th Annual Orcas Island Storyfest gets underway Monday – stories everywhere and for everyone
(Monday, July 29 – Friday, Aug 3)
“Be ready to relish in the great tradition and fine art of storytelling!” It’s the 5th biennial storytelling festival since 2004 produced by part-timers Nancy Wang and Robert Kikuchi-Yngojo of Eth-Noh-Tec. Nine storytellers from as far as New York and Massachusetts, and as close as Orcas Island itself, will be telling stories.Whether a wisdom tale, a journey tales, even a silly or ghost tale, stories always embrace a message while at the same time entertaining. So come enjoy and be awed! Six public programs sponsored by Friends of the Orcas Island Library and Mindplace will be as follows:
Monday, July 29, 6:00 pm: “Pajama Tales”, Library, – wear your “jammies”! (Free)
Tuesday, July 30, 1:30 pm: “Wisdom, Wit, and Wily Ways”, Senior Center, (Free) Opening act: Songbirds
Tuesday, July 30, 7:30 pm: “Ghost Stories”, Funhouse (Donation)
Wednesday, Aug 1, 7:30 pm: “Sacred Stories, Sounds of Spirit”, Emmanuel Episcopal Hall (Free) Opening act: Bhajans
Thursday, Aug 2, 7:30 pm: “World of Stories” Odd Fellows Hall (Sliding Scale Donation) Opening act: Parking Lot Angels
Friday, Aug 3, 7:30 pm: “Why Stories? Why Sing?” fishbowl panel and forum followed by a sing along, Senior Center (Donation)
